Job Responsibility:
Lead the Accounting Team: Provide active leadership and supervision to the Assistant Controller and Manager of Accounting, overseeing all aspects of the accounting cycle
Talent Development: Actively coach and provide timely, constructive feedback to direct reports
Internal Controls & Compliance: Own the reliability and effectiveness of internal controls over financial processes
Financial Reporting Integrity: Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports, including a clear narrative for management
Strategic Planning: Actively participate in strategic planning and ongoing business decisions
Lead the preparation of the annual budget and monthly/quarterly forecasts
Performance Analysis: Lead the monthly analysis of actuals versus budget and prior years
Conduct detailed profit and loss statement analysis
Treasury & Tax Management: Manage cash, oversee inter-company transfers and reconciliations, and ensure timely monthly/annual tax filing requirements and remittances across multiple jurisdictions
Requirements:
8+ years of progressive experience in financial reporting, ideally within a public company environment
at least 5+ years in a managerial or leadership capacity
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (required)
CPA designation is required
Advanced expertise in accounting standards and practices (IFRS is key), financial reporting processes, tax legislation, and internal controls
Must be an influential leader with a collaborative management style
Must take initiative, own the job, and be a dependable resource who thrives without extensive hand-holding
Flexible, easy to get along with, and able to motivate others while fostering a culture of continuous learning
Nice to have:
MBA is a bonus
Experience working in the distribution industry (beneficial)
Experience with AS/400, Blackline, and Hyperion Financial Management (highly desirable)
