Job Responsibility:

  • Lead the Accounting Team: Provide active leadership and supervision to the Assistant Controller and Manager of Accounting, overseeing all aspects of the accounting cycle
  • Talent Development: Actively coach and provide timely, constructive feedback to direct reports
  • Internal Controls & Compliance: Own the reliability and effectiveness of internal controls over financial processes
  • Financial Reporting Integrity: Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports, including a clear narrative for management
  • Strategic Planning: Actively participate in strategic planning and ongoing business decisions
  • Lead the preparation of the annual budget and monthly/quarterly forecasts
  • Performance Analysis: Lead the monthly analysis of actuals versus budget and prior years
  • Conduct detailed profit and loss statement analysis
  • Treasury & Tax Management: Manage cash, oversee inter-company transfers and reconciliations, and ensure timely monthly/annual tax filing requirements and remittances across multiple jurisdictions

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in financial reporting, ideally within a public company environment
  • at least 5+ years in a managerial or leadership capacity
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (required)
  • CPA designation is required
  • Advanced expertise in accounting standards and practices (IFRS is key), financial reporting processes, tax legislation, and internal controls
  • Must be an influential leader with a collaborative management style
  • Must take initiative, own the job, and be a dependable resource who thrives without extensive hand-holding
  • Flexible, easy to get along with, and able to motivate others while fostering a culture of continuous learning

  • MBA is a bonus
  • Experience working in the distribution industry (beneficial)
  • Experience with AS/400, Blackline, and Hyperion Financial Management (highly desirable)
