We are looking for an experienced Controller to oversee and manage all financial operations at our clients property in Ogallala, Nebraska. This role is pivotal in ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and efficiency of financial processes, while providing strategic guidance and fostering collaboration across departments. The ideal candidate will bring leadership expertise and a strong understanding of accounting principles to drive the success of financial activities.
Job Responsibility:
Supervise and guide the Accounting, Revenue Audit, Cage & Count, and Purchasing teams to ensure smooth daily operations and compliance with regulations
Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure adherence to accounting standards and gaming laws
Prepare and oversee property budgets, forecasts, and financial reports, ensuring timely and accurate analysis of financial performance
Lead the month-end close process, including financial statement preparation, reconciliation reviews, and fluctuation analysis
Manage hiring, training, performance evaluations, and team development to build a cohesive and collaborative work environment
Coordinate audits and regulatory filings, ensuring timely payment of gaming taxes, sales tax, and other required fees
Monitor and approve financial transactions, including accounts payable check runs and fund transfers, to maintain operational integrity
Establish departmental goals and strategies to align with organizational objectives and enhance financial processes
Serve as the Manager on Duty periodically, overseeing casino operations and ensuring compliance with company policies
Provide ad-hoc financial reporting and participate in special projects as directed by management
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience in an accounting department, preferably within the gaming industry
Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local reporting requirements
Expertise in financial statement preparation, audits, budgeting, and forecasting
Proficiency in document control, scanning, and compiling financial documents
Demonstrated ability to manage month-end close processes and analyze financial data
Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills, with a focus on maintaining compliance and accuracy
Proven ability to lead and mentor teams, fostering a positive and productive work environment
