Job Description:

Controller role overseeing accounting function, guiding financial strategy, and partnering with project teams to ensure accuracy and operational excellence in a construction-focused environment.

Job Responsibility:

Lead all accounting operations including general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, project cost accounting, and intercompany transactions
Manage month-end close, review and approve journal entries, and ensure accurate financial reporting across entities
Collaborate with project managers and operations teams to monitor budgets, analyze job cost reports, and drive financial accountability
Generate and present monthly and quarterly financial statements and provide insights to executive leadership
Maintain compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and audit requirements
Oversee intercompany loan interest accruals, reconciliations, and foreign exchange adjustments
Direct and develop accounting staff, providing mentorship, coaching, and performance management
Partner with operations to resolve accounting issues and improve workflow

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
MBA or CPA preferred
7+ years of progressive accounting experience
At least 3 years in a leadership or management role
Prior experience working with mid- to large-size construction projects or project-based companies
Strong background in operational/project accounting and financial reporting
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting/ERP systems
Strong leadership and team management skills
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
Ability to work independently in a remote environment
Willingness and ability to travel as needed to project sites in KY & OH

Nice to have:

MBA or CPA
Experience with foreign exchange adjustments
