Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Controller to join our client's team in Indianapolis, Indiana. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual who excels in financial management and accounting operations. In this succession planning role, you will have command of the general ledge through month-end close while also overseeing critical financial processes and contribute to the organization's success by ensuring accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement.

Job Responsibility:

  • Oversee daily accounting operations, including managing the general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and reconciliations
  • Supervise the bookkeeper and ensure accurate treasury and cash flow forecasting across multiple legal entities
  • Maintain and update the general ledger system and chart of accounts to ensure proper financial tracking
  • Prepare and review ledger entries, reconciliations, and monthly financial statements
  • Develop procedures to ensure compliance with donor restrictions and regulatory requirements
  • Manage fixed asset schedules and reconcile them regularly
  • Facilitate timely period closings and assist with regulatory reporting requirements
  • Lead the application, tracking, and reporting of government grants and other funding programs
  • Assist in annual budget preparation, forecasts, and variance analyses for revenue and expenditures
  • Ensure readiness for audits and oversee engagement with external auditors

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in accounting and financial management
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and financial systems such as Bamboo HR and Ramp
  • Expertise in month-end closing processes and account reconciliations
  • Strong knowledge of general ledger management and fixed asset accounting
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain internal controls
  • Excellent skills in financial reporting and compliance monitoring
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and ability to maintain confidentiality
