We are looking for an experienced Controller to oversee financial reporting, tax compliance, and audit processes in our organization. Based in Westbury, New York, this role requires a highly analytical individual with strong attention to detail, adept at managing general ledger operations and ensuring accuracy in financial documentation. The ideal candidate will bring a solid background in accounting, a keen attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external auditors.
Job Responsibility:
Perform monthly reconciliations of general ledger accounts and analyze discrepancies
Prepare both standard and complex journal entries to ensure accurate financial reporting
Conduct monthly bank reconciliations, comparing bank balances with organizational records
Oversee accounts payable and receivable aging roll forwards, ensuring alignment with the general ledger
Manage monthly inventory roll forwards and provide detailed reporting to the Director of Finance
Lead the month-end close process in collaboration with the Director of Finance
Prepare and file state sales tax returns on a monthly and quarterly basis, ensuring compliance across multiple jurisdictions
Monitor and manage sales tax cash flow requirements in partnership with the Director of Finance
Compile and issue annual 1099 forms based on accounts payable records, adhering to strict deadlines
Develop year-end audit workpapers and analyses, coordinating responses to auditor inquiries
Requirements:
Minimum of 7 years of experience in accounting or financial management roles
Proficiency in document control, scanning, and compiling financial records
Strong knowledge of general ledger operations and reconciliation processes
Experience preparing sales tax returns and managing compliance across multiple states
Familiarity with audit preparation and responding to auditor requests
Ability to analyze and reconcile inventory and job costing records
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Strong communication abilities to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
