Tyler Houk (Practice Director) with Robert Half is looking for an experienced Controller to lead the company's accounting operations and support sound financial decision-making in Fresno, California. This position will oversee core reporting, budgeting, and compliance activities while guiding a small accounting team in a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, leadership capability, and the ability to turn financial data into practical business insight.
Job Responsibility:
Direct daily accounting operations, including oversight of closing activities, balance sheet reconciliations, and the timely completion of financial reports
Develop and deliver financial statements, operating budgets, and forward-looking projections for leadership review and planning purposes
Supervise key transactional functions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll coordination, and general ledger integrity
Maintain adherence to applicable accounting regulations and reporting standards, including US GAAP, and support a strong compliance environment
Partner with operational and departmental leaders to evaluate performance, explain financial results, and inform business decisions
Manage, coach, and develop a four-person accounting team, promoting accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement
Strengthen internal control procedures to protect company assets and improve the reliability of financial information
Review financial trends and cost drivers to identify opportunities for greater efficiency, savings, and improved profitability
Coordinate audit preparation and assist with tax-related documentation and reporting requirements
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field
At least 5 years of accounting or finance experience, including 2 or more years in a supervisory or leadership capacity
Strong command of month-end close, financial reporting, financial statement preparation, budgeting, forecasting, and US GAAP
Experience using accounting systems and Microsoft Office applications, with strong Excel skills
Demonstrated ability to analyze financial information, solve problems, and maintain a high level of accuracy
Proven leadership skills with the ability to guide, mentor, and develop accounting staff
Effective written and verbal communication skills for interaction with management and cross-functional teams
