Responsible for overseeing all accounting, financial reporting, and compliance activities for a privately held real estate development and general contracting company in Sacramento. This hands-on position manages the full financial cycle, with a strong emphasis on construction and project accounting, including job costing, property management accounting and multi-entity financial management.
Job Responsibility:
Oversee all accounting, financial reporting, and compliance activities
Prepare accurate and timely financial statements
Manage project accounting including purchase order administration, job cost tracking, change orders, progress billings, retainage, and percentage-of-completion revenue recognition
Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
Prepare consolidated financial reports for multiple entities
Develop and maintain annual operating budgets, project budgets, and financial forecasts
Monitor project costs against budgets and analyze variances
Conduct financial analysis for new development opportunities, bids, change orders, and cash flow projections
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
7+ years of progressive accounting experience
3–5 years as a Controller or Assistant Controller
Significant experience in real estate development, general contracting, or construction accounting (job cost, percentage-of-completion method essential)
Demonstrated expertise in job costing and percentage-of-completion accounting methods
Experience preparing financial statements, managing multi-entity reporting, and overseeing month-end and year-end close processes
Knowledge of tax compliance, internal controls, and financial risk management
