As a Controller on the US Finance team in our Santa Monica Office, you’ll play a vital role in overseeing the successful operations of the accounting function. The Controller will be responsible for managing the US finance team, optimizing the financial close process, strengthening internal controls and ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting. In addition, the Controller will engage in corporate strategy discussions and help us continue to fine-tune the analysis of our business.
Job Responsibility
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the accounting function in the US and Canada, leading and mentoring a team of 6 employees, including managing shared accounting operations (AP, payroll, T&E) for the company and US subsidiary, and providing support to additional subsidiaries
Manage the financial month-end closing process to ensure all required financial data is accurate, reconciled, documented and disclosed in a timely manner
Review and assess monthly budget/forecast to actual variance and prepare a quantitative and qualitative analysis while streamlining the month-end closing processes and maintaining a high degree of compliance
Coordinate and act as liaison for year-end audit and tax returns
interact with external auditors, tax consultants, and other service providers
Implement, support and oversee SOX compliance measures and implement new policies to meet departmental goals
Maximize the performance and contribution of each direct and extended team member through mentoring, professional and best practice development, and leading by example
Partner with and maintain strong relationships with cross functional teams (Sales, Operations, HR and IT). Utilize strong communication skills and accounting acumen to support Taboola’s hypergrowth
Requirements
Bachelor’s, or advanced degree in accounting, finance, or related field
CPA or other relevant certification is strongly preferred
7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience
Public company and/or public accounting experience strongly preferred
4+ years of people management experience
Management of other managers and teams of 3+ strongly preferred
High technical accounting skills, and strong knowledge of US GAAP and SOX
Multi-Entity and multi-currency experience
Strong leadership aptitude
ability to mentor talent and foster career development
Demonstrated ability to interface effectively with all levels of management and develop positive cross-functional working relationships
Ability to foster and manage relationships across multiple departments and disciplines to meet aggressive goals and strict deadlines
