Job Description:

Tyler Houk (Practice Director) with Robert Half is looking for a dedicated Controller to oversee financial operations and reporting for our organization in Fresno, California. This role requires a strategic thinker who can manage accounting records, supervise AR/AP teams, and ensure compliance with financial standards. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the financial health and operational efficiency of the company.

Job Responsibility:

  • Prepare detailed financial reports, conduct in-depth analysis, and compare budgets to actual performance
  • Manage cash flow and oversee capital expenditures to ensure optimal financial operations
  • Supervise accounts receivable (AR) and accounts payable (AP) teams, ensuring accuracy and efficiency
  • Reconcile variance reports and financial data while maintaining compliance with company policies
  • Oversee the month-end financial close process, including recording journal entries and managing job cost accounting
  • Collaborate with operations teams to capture and report costs and metrics accurately and on time
  • Lead financial planning activities, including forecasting, variance analysis, and executive reporting
  • Provide real-time feedback on financial performance and develop strategies to improve revenue and cost efficiency
  • Establish and maintain policies and procedures to ensure high standards in financial operations
  • Utilize Microsoft Power BI to create insightful financial reports and dashboards

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Minimum of seven years of experience in financial management or a similar role
  • Extensive knowledge of cost accounting procedures, particularly within the construction industry
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with various technological platforms
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking abilities, coupled with proactive leadership
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders, including senior executives
