We are looking for an experienced Controller to oversee and manage the financial operations of our organization in Westborough, Massachusetts. This role involves collaborating closely with the Chief Financial Officer to ensure the accuracy, compliance, and efficiency of financial processes, including budgeting, reporting, and audits. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills and technical expertise to optimize accounting systems and maintain adherence to federal and state regulations.
Job Responsibility:
Lead the development of annual budgets, project-specific financial plans, and monthly financial reports to support organizational goals
Supervise finance team members to ensure accurate and timely processing of journal entries, account analyses, and financial statements
Manage the coordination and execution of annual financial audits, single audits, and state audits to maintain compliance
Oversee the implementation, maintenance, and upgrades of accounting and reporting systems, working with IT and software vendors as needed
Monitor and analyze monthly financial results, identifying variances and proposing corrective actions to support fiscal objectives
Prepare and present financial reports, forecasts, and planning models to executive leadership and board committees
Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, including grant management and program-based financial reporting requirements
Develop and submit federal funding applications, including budgets and financial assumptions, while maintaining adherence to reporting standards
Collaborate with programmatic teams to integrate financial considerations into operational planning and execution
Lead special projects, including ad hoc financial analyses and detailed reporting requests, to support organizational initiatives
Requirements:
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in financial systems, budget management, and spreadsheet modeling
Proven expertise in board reporting, budgeting, and financial analysis
Strong skills in forecasting, month-end close processes, and preparing monthly statements
Ability to supervise and mentor finance staff, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment
Adept at managing audits and ensuring compliance with federal and state financial regulations
Familiarity with automated accounting systems and reporting software
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to identify financial trends and variances
Strong communication skills for presenting financial data to executive leadership and board members
