We are looking for an experienced Controller to oversee all aspects of financial management within our organization. This role involves managing daily financial operations as well as contributing to high-level strategic planning to ensure compliance, efficiency, and support for our mission.
Job Responsibility:
Maintain accurate and compliant accounting records in accordance with GAAP and ensure adherence to federal, state, and local financial and tax regulations
Supervise daily accounting operations, including payroll, accounts receivable, and accounts payable, ensuring all transactions are properly documented
Monitor monthly financial performance against the approved budget and program allocations to identify variances and recommend adjustments
Prepare and present monthly financial statements, reports, and annual budgets to assist in achieving organizational goals
Lead the annual audit process, ensuring compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures
Manage organizational cash flow and forecasting, as well as reporting for federal, state, and foundation grants
Collaborate with leadership and program teams to ensure timely and accurate grant proposals and reporting
Communicate and present financial updates to the Board of Directors, promoting transparency and accountability
Foster process improvements and cross-training initiatives within the accounting department to enhance operational efficiency
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field, with a focus on accounting
At least 10 years of experience in accounting, including nonprofit accounting
A minimum of 8 years of managerial experience
In-depth knowledge of nonprofit governance, accounting principles, financial planning, and business processes
Proven experience in grant management, including reporting and compliance for grants
Proficiency with financial software, as well as spreadsheets and databases
Strong understanding of GAAP accounting, financial statement preparation, and audit processes
