We are looking for an experienced Controller to join a dynamic and expanding multi-location retail organization in New York, New York. This role is pivotal in overseeing the accounting operations, improving financial processes, and delivering strategic insights to support company growth. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in multi-unit operations, preferably within the retail or hospitality industry, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Job Responsibility:
Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger management, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, inventory accounting, and fixed assets
Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process across multiple locations
Develop and implement robust internal controls, policies, and accounting procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance
Prepare and review financial statements while ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations
Collaborate with senior leadership to analyze financial performance and provide insights that drive operational and strategic decisions
Manage cash flow forecasting, budgeting, and financial planning to align with organizational goals
Identify and implement systems and tools to enhance data accuracy and streamline processes
Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and banking partners to maintain compliance and strengthen financial operations
Mentor and develop the accounting team, fostering a scalable function that aligns with the company's growth trajectory
Requirements:
Minimum of 8 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles within corporate accounting
Proven expertise in multi-location retail or hospitality operations
Solid understanding of US GAAP and multi-entity accounting principles
Demonstrated success in improving financial processes and building internal controls
Experience collaborating with operations and executive teams to drive profitability and strategic initiatives
Advanced proficiency in Excel and familiarity with ERP systems used in retail or hospitality
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage complex financial operations
Excellent communication and leadership skills to effectively manage teams and influence across departments
