We are looking for an experienced Controller to join our team in Long Beach, California. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in nonprofit accounting and financial management, as well as experience handling multi-entity financials. The Controller will play a key role in ensuring financial compliance, preparing reports, and supporting strategic initiatives.
Job Responsibility:
Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements, including forecasts and detailed reports
Oversee all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, and financial management across multiple entities
Conduct in-depth financial analyses to identify trends and recommend operational improvements
Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards, maintaining transparency across all activities
Lead and coordinate audit processes, preparing necessary documentation and ensuring completion
Manage grant finances by generating precise reports for various funding sources
Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to collect, verify, and manage financial data
Monitor and document inter-company financial transactions to ensure clarity and accuracy
Support strategic financial planning and initiatives in collaboration with leadership
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field
At least 5 years of experience in accounting or financial management, with nonprofit audit expertise
Must have Non-Profit industry experience
Demonstrated knowledge of multi-entity financials, including separate books, profit and loss statements, and balance sheets
Proficiency in audit processes, including single-asset audits
Advanced skills in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office applications
Strong understanding of financial regulations, accounts payable/receivable management, and budget oversight
Experience managing grants and preparing financial reports for diverse funding sources
Ability to work independently with minimal training on real estate and property financials
