Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Controller to join our team in Long Beach, California. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in nonprofit accounting and financial management, as well as experience handling multi-entity financials. The Controller will play a key role in ensuring financial compliance, preparing reports, and supporting strategic initiatives.

Job Responsibility:

  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements, including forecasts and detailed reports
  • Oversee all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, and financial management across multiple entities
  • Conduct in-depth financial analyses to identify trends and recommend operational improvements
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards, maintaining transparency across all activities
  • Lead and coordinate audit processes, preparing necessary documentation and ensuring completion
  • Manage grant finances by generating precise reports for various funding sources
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to collect, verify, and manage financial data
  • Monitor and document inter-company financial transactions to ensure clarity and accuracy
  • Support strategic financial planning and initiatives in collaboration with leadership

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field
  • At least 5 years of experience in accounting or financial management, with nonprofit audit expertise
  • Must have Non-Profit industry experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of multi-entity financials, including separate books, profit and loss statements, and balance sheets
  • Proficiency in audit processes, including single-asset audits
  • Advanced skills in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong understanding of financial regulations, accounts payable/receivable management, and budget oversight
  • Experience managing grants and preparing financial reports for diverse funding sources
  • Ability to work independently with minimal training on real estate and property financials
