Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Controller to manage the financial operations of a manufacturing company in Kansas City, Kansas. This leadership role requires a hands-on approach to oversee all accounting functions, ensure financial accuracy, and support strategic business decisions. The ideal candidate will bring advanced knowledge of cost accounting and manufacturing processes, along with expertise in financial systems and reporting.

Job Responsibility:

Oversee all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, inventory accounting, and general ledger management
Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes to deliver accurate and timely financial reports
Prepare and analyze financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and variance reports for management review
Develop and enforce internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with policies and regulations
Perform cost accounting tasks, including standard cost development, margin analysis, and bill of materials review
Coordinate and communicate with external auditors, ensuring smooth audit processes
Supervise tax compliance and filings, collaborating with external tax advisors when necessary
Optimize financial workflows and systems, including Business Central, to improve efficiency and troubleshooting
Utilize advanced Excel skills to create financial models, dashboards, and reports that support strategic initiatives
Collaborate with leadership to drive long-term financial planning, capital investment strategies, and operational improvements.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Proven experience as a Controller or senior accounting manager, preferably in a manufacturing environment
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, cost accounting principles, and inventory management
Hands-on expertise with Business Central or similar ERP systems
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, macros, and complex functions
Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and communication skills
Analytical mindset with a track record of improving processes and delivering actionable financial insights
Familiarity with budgeting, forecasting, and financial statement preparation.
