We are looking for a skilled Controller to join our team on a contract basis in Midlothian, Virginia. This role requires a strategic thinker who is also comfortable with hands-on tasks to ensure the smooth operation of financial processes. The position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a dynamic retail environment for a duration of 8-12 weeks.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead and manage the company's financial operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations
  • Oversee and guide a team of three accounts payable specialists and an entry-level accountant
  • Handle sales tax reporting and filings, ensuring timely and accurate submissions
  • Conduct cost accounting analysis to support business decision-making
  • Compile and scan financial documents to maintain organized and accessible records
  • Manage document control processes to ensure consistency and reliability
  • Collaborate with leadership to provide strategic insights and recommendations
  • Perform detailed reviews of financial data to identify trends and areas for improvement
  • Ensure proper documentation and scanning of all critical financial records
  • Support the team in meeting deadlines and maintaining high standards of financial reporting

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a Controller or similar financial leadership role
  • Knowledge of sales tax regulations and cost accounting principles
  • Ability to lead and manage teams effectively
  • Proficiency in document control and scanning processes
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Familiarity with compiling and maintaining financial records
