We’re representing a growing and dynamic food manufacturer in the Cerritos area that is seeking a hands-on Controller to lead financial operations across multiple facilities. This is a key, on-site leadership role where you'll collaborate with senior management, operations, and production teams to drive financial performance and process improvements. Job Responsibility:
Manage full-cycle accounting for multiple manufacturing locations, including AP, AR, payroll, inventory, and GL
Lead the monthly close process: journal entries, reconciliations, financial statement preparation
Conduct cost analysis, standard costing, and variance reporting tied to plant operations
Perform monthly inventory reconciliations and manage reserves, shrink, and aged inventory
Develop and maintain strong internal controls to ensure compliance and mitigate risk
Lead the annual budgeting process and monthly forecasting, with performance tracking to KPIs
Analyze financial results and work with plant managers to implement corrective actions
Partner with engineering and operations on capital project analysis and product costing
Provide cash flow insights and strategic financial recommendations to executive leadership
Respond to audit and compliance requests with accurate and timely documentation
Assist with ad hoc financial projects and system/process improvements
Requirements:
5+ years of accounting or controllership experience in a food manufacturing or process manufacturing environment
Strong knowledge of cost accounting, inventory controls, and financial analysis
Proficiency with ERP systems (NetSuite, SAP, or similar) and advanced Excel skills
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
CPA or CMA preferred but not required
Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment and is comfortable wearing multiple hats
Minimum of 8 years of progressive accounting experience, with a focus on manufacturing and cost accounting
Strong expertise in internal controls, financial systems, and compliance standards
Proven knowledge of financial and cost accounting processes, including inventory management and standard costing
Experience with fixed asset tracking and capital project analysis
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a track record of building trusted business partnerships
Proficient in financial systems, ERP platforms, and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Thrives in fast-paced environments, demonstrating strong planning and execution capabilities
