We are looking for a detail-oriented Controller to oversee financial operations and reporting for a transport-focused organization near Fremont, Nebraska. This role involves managing cash flow, preparing financial statements, and ensuring accurate tax filings while collaborating with various administrative departments. The ideal candidate will bring extensive accounting experience and a strong ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Job Responsibility:
Monitor and forecast daily cash flow across all entities to ensure financial stability
Prepare weekly cash summaries and monthly reconciliations for all bank accounts
Manage monthly financial statement preparation, journal entries, and supporting documentation
File and pay federal and state payroll withholding taxes on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis
Maintain fixed asset records and generate monthly reports to support financial analysis
Supervise the preparation of quarterly bonuses for drivers and resolve outstanding transactions and checks
Process employee expense reports and manual check vouchers accurately and efficiently
Collaborate with auditors to prepare documentation for annual audits and ensure tax payments are up-to-date
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting is preferred
Minimum of 10 years of accounting experience, ideally within the transportation industry
Proven expertise in month-end close processes, bank reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
Strong knowledge of corporate income tax filings and journal entry preparation
Familiarity with fixed asset management and related reporting
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy
