Job Description:

Controller to oversee financial operations and provide strategic guidance for a dynamic organization in Central, Kentucky. This role combines financial management expertise with hands-on involvement in operational planning and cost analysis. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative environment and contribute to the success of both financial and farm management systems.

Job Responsibility:

Manage all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and bank reconciliations
Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports
Lead budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning activities to support organizational goals
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations
Collaborate with farm management to align financial planning with operational objectives
Track and analyze costs associated with breeding, training, veterinary care, and farm maintenance
Implement and maintain inventory systems for feed, supplies, and equipment
Develop, enforce, and improve internal controls and accounting policies
Evaluate financial systems and software tools, recommending and implementing improvements
Maintain accurate financial records for syndicates and partnerships

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
At least 5 years of progressive experience in accounting, ideally within agriculture, equine, or manufacturing industries
Proficiency in QuickBooks, Excel, and relevant software
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hands-on, rural environment

Nice to have:

Familiarity with cost accounting and project-based financial tracking
Experience in the horse racing, breeding, or agricultural sector
Passion for animals and a solid understanding of farm operations
