We are looking for an experienced Controller to oversee and manage financial operations for our organization based in Fontana, California. This role requires a hands-on leader who is well-versed in construction industry accounting practices and capable of driving operational excellence. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in financial management, team leadership, and strategic planning.
Job Responsibility:
Oversee all financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions
Manage month-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reconciliations
Develop and maintain job costing and retention accounting systems tailored to the construction industry
Implement effective indirect cost and equipment allocation strategies
Lead the preparation and analysis of financial statements, budgets, and forecasts
Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements
Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency across financial operations
Collaborate with operational teams to align financial strategies with business goals
Utilize advanced Excel skills and construction accounting software to optimize reporting and analysis
Train and mentor accounting staff, supporting their growth and development
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Minimum of 7 years of accounting experience, preferably within construction
Expertise in job costing, retention accounting, and indirect cost allocation
Proven ability to manage AP, AR, and payroll teams effectively
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and construction-specific accounting systems
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing tasks
Comfort working in a fast-paced and operationally focused environment
Knowledge of financial statement preparation, budgeting, and forecasting processes
