We are looking for an experienced Controller to lead accounting operations for a manufacturing environment near Huntsville, Texas. This role will oversee cost accounting, inventory accuracy, and month-end close activities while strengthening financial controls and reporting discipline. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on expertise in job costing, variance analysis, and manufacturing finance, along with the ability to support pricing decisions and maintain audit-ready records.
Job Responsibility:
Lead the design, improvement, and ongoing management of job costing methods to ensure accurate product and project cost visibility
Establish and refine overhead allocation approaches, including labor-hour and machine-hour models, and develop reliable labor and burden rates
Analyze labor efficiency, production performance, and manufacturing variances to identify trends and recommend corrective actions
Oversee inventory accounting activities, including monthly roll-forwards, scrap treatment, rework evaluation, yield analysis, and defensible write-off support
Partner with operations and leadership to provide cost-based pricing guidance for custom manufacturing work
Reconcile production and shop floor data to the general ledger and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
Direct the monthly close process with a strong focus on accuracy, consistency, and adherence to deadlines
Create repeatable journal entry processes and maintain clear supporting documentation for audits and financial reviews
Ensure proper accounting treatment for capitalizable costs versus period expenses across manufacturing-related transactions
Requirements:
7+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including senior-level responsibility in a manufacturing environment
Demonstrated hands-on expertise in job costing, including setup, correction, and optimization of costing structures
Strong knowledge of inventory accounting, overhead allocation, labor and burden rate development, and variance analysis
Experience supporting monthly financial close, general ledger reconciliations, and audit-ready documentation standards
Familiarity with scrap, rework, yield, and other core manufacturing cost drivers
Ability to translate operational data into pricing support and financial insights for leadership
Strong attention to detail, process discipline, and documentation skills in a fast-paced production setting
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
