Job Description

A client of ours is looking for a Controller for a contract role to lead all accounting and finance operations for a growing organization. This individual will serve as a key business partner to leadership, overseeing the company's financial activities while helping navigate an active acquisition process. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented accounting leader who enjoys working in a hands-on environment and can effectively manage both strategic financial initiatives and day-to-day accounting functions.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead and manage all accounting and finance activities for the organization
  • Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes
  • Manage all accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions
  • Monitor and manage company cash flow, forecasting, and liquidity planning
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, budgets, and management reports
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax requirements, and internal controls
  • Support executive leadership with financial analysis and business decision-making
  • Play a critical role in supporting the company's acquisition process, including financial due diligence and integration activities
  • Maintain and optimize financial processes and reporting within QuickBooks
  • Supervise and mentor one direct report within Business Administration
  • Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, banks, and other financial partners as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting and finance leadership experience
  • Prior Controller or Accounting Manager experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
  • Experience managing payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash flow
  • Experience working in small to mid-sized companies preferred
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks required
  • Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, or significant business transactions is highly desirable
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a hands-on environment

Nice to have

  • Prior Controller or Accounting Manager experience preferred
  • Experience working in small to mid-sized companies preferred
  • Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, or significant business transactions is highly desirable
