Our client is looking for an experienced Controller to oversee and optimize the financial operations of their organization. This leadership role will be responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, maintaining accurate financial records, and providing strategic insights to support business decisions. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in accounting systems, financial reporting, and team management to drive operational excellence.
Job Responsibility:
Manage daily accounting operations, including payroll, accounts payable, general ledger, and fixed asset management
Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes to ensure accurate and timely reporting
Develop and implement financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes, analyzing variances to identify trends and discrepancies
Monitor and manage cash flow, ensuring adequate capital is available for operations and growth
Establish and enforce internal control systems to safeguard assets and comply with regulatory requirements
Prepare detailed financial reports and deliver actionable insights to senior leadership to inform strategic decision-making
Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) within the transportation industry, such as revenue-per-truck and cost-per-mile, to identify improvement opportunities
Collaborate with the executive team on long-term financial strategy and capital investments
Lead and mentor the accounting team, fostering attention to detail and ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures
Evaluate and implement accounting software systems to improve efficiency and streamline operations
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Minimum of 5-10 years of progressive accounting experience, including 2-4 years in a senior accounting or controller role
Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards
Experience in transportation-related accounting processes, including multi-state tax compliance and fleet asset management
Proficiency in financial software such as Sage Intacct, NetSuite, and Microsoft Excel
Proven ability to manage month-end close processes and balance sheet reconciliations
Expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and KPI reporting to drive business performance
Effective leadership and team management skills, with a focus on fostering continuous improvement
