Job Responsibility:
Oversee all accounting operations, including GL, AP/AR, payroll, and cash management
Develop and maintain internal controls to ensure regulatory compliance, accurate reporting, and adherence to grant requirements
Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for board and management review
Partner with senior leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning in support of the organization's mission and strategic goals
Ensure timely and accurate grant management, reporting, and compliance
Supervise and mentor the accounting team, driving continuous improvement and professional development
Manage audit processes and relationships with external auditors
Implement and oversee process enhancements to improve operational efficiencies
Leverage technology tools such as Microsoft D365, Oracle NetSuite, Power BI, QuickBooks, or similar platforms to strengthen reporting and analytics
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
CPA or advanced degree preferred
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or Controller role
Prior nonprofit experience highly preferred
Strong understanding of nonprofit accounting principles (GAAP), including fund accounting and grant compliance
Proven expertise in accounting controls and payroll management
Proficiency in accounting and reporting software (Microsoft D365, NetSuite, QuickBooks, PowerBI, or similar)
High integrity, excellent organizational skills, and a passion for community-focused work
Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, able to work cross-functionally and present complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders
Nice to have:
CPA or advanced degree
Prior nonprofit experience
