Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Controller to provide steady financial leadership for a growing specialty services organization in Ponder, Texas. This Long-term Contract position will play a central role in strengthening accounting operations, improving financial insight, and helping the business build a scalable finance function. The ideal candidate brings a practical, hands-on approach and can guide both daily execution and broader process enhancement in a fast-changing environment.

Job Responsibility

  • Direct core accounting activities, including oversight of the general ledger and coordination of an accurate, timely month-end close
  • Design and implement financial policies, workflows, and reporting routines that support consistency and better decision-making
  • Recruit, develop, and support accounting and finance personnel to create a stronger in-house team structure
  • Review the current external accounting support model and recommend improvements that increase efficiency and accountability
  • Partner with operational leaders to strengthen job costing, project-level financial analysis, and performance reporting
  • Contribute to cash flow planning, budgeting efforts, and broader forecasting processes to improve financial visibility
  • Lead enhancements to internal controls and help establish a more reliable finance and accounting framework
  • Support finance transformation initiatives, including evaluation and rollout of new systems and alignment with more formal reporting standards
  • Serve as a key financial contact for ownership, lenders, auditors, tax audit activities, and other external advisors as needed

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a Controller or senior finance leadership role within construction, specialty contracting, industrial services, or another project-driven business
  • Strong command of general ledger management, month-end close, and year-end audit preparation
  • Demonstrated success improving accounting processes and building structure within growing middle-market organizations
  • Ability to lead strategically while remaining comfortable handling detailed, hands-on financial work
  • Experience partnering with operations teams to support job costing, project reporting, and financial performance analysis
  • Background in strengthening internal controls, reporting practices, and overall finance infrastructure
  • Exposure to finance transformation initiatives or accounting system implementation is strongly preferred
