We are looking for an experienced Controller to oversee and manage the financial operations of our company based in Brea, California. As a trusted leader in premium, sustainably sourced seafood, we operate a complex international supply chain and serve major markets across the U.S. This role is integral to driving financial excellence and supporting strategic growth initiatives.
Job Responsibility:
Supervise all accounting functions, including general ledger, cash management, payroll, billing, accounts payable and receivable, inventory accounting, and internal controls
Ensure accurate and timely completion of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial close processes
Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure data integrity
Prepare and analyze financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and scalability as the company grows
Collaborate on budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis, and business analytics to support strategic decision-making
Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits and oversee preparation of federal and state tax filings
Work cross-functionally with teams in operations, logistics, supply chain, and sales to ensure accurate inventory management and costing
Mentor and develop a team of accounting professionals to foster growth and expertise
Ensure compliance with company policies, U.S. regulatory standards, and accounting practices
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required
Proven experience as a Controller in a mid-size or larger organization is essential
familiarity with import/export, distribution, or food industries is highly preferred
CPA certification is strongly preferred
Expertise in U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
Demonstrated ability to lead and manage accounting teams effectively
Advanced proficiency in accounting software such as Microsoft D365, Oracle NetSuite, or similar platforms, along with strong Excel and Power BI skills
Excellent critical thinking, adaptability, and communication skills
Nice to have:
Experience in cost accounting and inventory management within a multi-entity or international environment is a plus
