We are looking for a hands-on Controller/VP of Finance to lead accounting operations and provide strong financial oversight for a manufacturing environment in Glendale, California. This role is well suited for someone who can balance strategic reporting with day-to-day execution, particularly within a smaller organization where adaptability and initiative are essential. The ideal candidate brings solid experience in cost accounting, inventory-driven financial management, and treasury-related reporting.
Job Responsibility
Direct monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities while ensuring accurate financial statements and supporting schedules
Oversee manufacturing accounting processes, including inventory valuation, cost analysis, bill of materials review, and work center-related financial tracking
Manage cost accounting activities to improve visibility into product costs, margins, and operational performance
Prepare internal and external financial reports, ensuring compliance with lending requirements and debt covenant reporting obligations
Monitor cash activity and support treasury functions, including bank account oversight, reconciliations, and cash flow reporting
Partner with operational leaders to analyze manufacturing results, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions
Maintain strong internal controls and accounting procedures appropriate for a resource-constrained environment
Contribute directly to both strategic finance initiatives and day-to-day accounting tasks in a role that requires flexibility and a hands-on approach
Requirements
5+ years of accounting or finance experience, including leadership responsibility in a Controller or similar role
Demonstrated experience in a manufacturing setting with knowledge of inventory accounting, work centers, and bill of materials
Strong background in manufacturing cost accounting and broader cost accounting practices
Proven ability to produce accurate financial reporting and support covenant compliance requirements
Experience with treasury-related activities, including cash monitoring and bank account reconciliation
Comfortable working in smaller companies or lean teams where responsibilities may span multiple functional areas
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to solve problems in a practical, execution-focused manner
