Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Controller/VP Finance to join a hospitality organization in Pinehurst, NC area on a contract basis. This contract opportunity is ideal for a hands-on accounting leader who can oversee daily financial operations while providing strong guidance to a small team. The role will play a key part in maintaining accurate reporting, supporting close activities, and delivering financial insight that helps drive sound business decisions. This contract Controller position will be onsite in the Pinehurst area and does have the potential to convert to a permanent position.

Job Responsibility:

  • Oversee the full scope of daily accounting activities to ensure timely and accurate financial operations
  • Lead the month-end close process, including review of entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports to provide clear visibility into business performance and operating trends
  • Supervise and support two direct reports, setting priorities and promoting accountability across the accounting function
  • Perform detailed financial analysis to identify variances, risks, and opportunities for improvement
  • Maintain the integrity of accounting records and internal controls across routine transactions and reporting processes
  • Utilize Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central to manage accounting workflows, reporting, and data accuracy
  • Partner with operational leadership to support budgeting, forecasting, and other finance-related business needs

Requirements:

  • Proven experience leading day-to-day accounting operations in a Controller or similar finance leadership role
  • Strong background in month-end close, financial reporting, and account reconciliation processes
  • Demonstrated ability to perform financial analysis and translate findings into actionable recommendations
  • Experience managing or mentoring accounting staff, including direct oversight of team members
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or closely related ERP platforms
  • Hands-on approach with the ability to work effectively in both strategic and transactional accounting responsibilities
  • Industry experience in hospitality or a similarly fast-paced service environment is preferred
