Robert Half is supporting a small business client in Des Moines in search of a highly skilled Controller/Small Business Accountant to oversee and streamline financial operations. This role involves managing accounting processes, maintaining accurate records, and providing timely financiais insights to support business decisions. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in small business including payroll, budgeting, and project accounting while upholding confidentiality and contributing to a collaborative work environment.
Job Responsibility:
Process and oversee accounts payable and receivable activities, including recording expenses, paying invoices, and reconciling accounts on a monthly basis
Prepare, update, and deliver financial reports to management to support informed decision-making
Manage the onboarding of new employees, ensuring all necessary information is accurately recorded and personnel records are maintained
Promote a positive workplace by fostering effective communication, collaboration, and mutual respect
Monitor inventory levels and procure supplies and equipment as required to support operations
Uphold strict confidentiality regarding sensitive company information, including financial data and employee records
Assist company leadership with special projects, providing support as needed
Accurately process weekly payroll and ensure timely completion of all payroll-related activities
Requirements:
Proficiency in payroll management and processing
Strong knowledge of month-end financial and close activities
Experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
Expertise in billing and project accounting, particularly for construction projects
Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and provide accurate forecasts
Familiarity with accounting systems and tools relevant to financial operations
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally
