Job Description:

Robert Half client is looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Controller/CFO to lead the financial operations of a construction company based in Arlington, Texas. This role involves overseeing accounting functions, managing financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills, a sharp analytical mindset, and a deep understanding of construction-specific financial practices.

Job Responsibility:

Oversee all aspects of accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and job cost accounting
Prepare and deliver accurate financial statements, such as profit-and-loss reports, balance sheets, and cash flow analyses
Ensure strict compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and legal requirements specific to the construction industry
Conduct month-end and year-end closings, ensuring accurate allocations for job costs and project performance metrics
Collaborate with project teams to monitor job cost performance, analyze financial variances, and recommend actionable improvements
Develop and refine budgets and financial forecasts in alignment with the company's strategic goals
Improve reporting systems and data analysis processes to enhance operational efficiency and decision-making
Oversee compliance reporting, audits, and ensure financial transparency for stakeholders
Mentor and train finance staff at the entry level to build a stronger, more capable accounting team
Identify financial risks, implement mitigation strategies, and establish robust internal controls

Requirements:

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is required
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
advanced certifications are a plus
A minimum of 5 to 7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in the construction industry
Proficiency in accounting software, advanced Microsoft Excel skills, and familiarity with construction-specific platforms
Comprehensive knowledge of job cost accounting, financial reporting, and compliance standards tailored to construction
Proven leadership experience, including managing teams and mentoring less experienced staff
Strong analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to assess project financial performance and company metrics
