Job Description:

Robert Half is working with a growing small business in the construction-related industry to hire a Controller / Accounting Manager who will lead accounting operations and financial reporting. This position is open due to an upcoming retirement.

Job Responsibility:

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Oversee AP, AR, general ledger, and payroll
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Supervise, train, and manage accounting staff
  • Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP and tax regulations
  • Coordinate annual audits with external auditors
  • Analyze data to support equipment buying, selling, utilization, and ROI decisions
  • Provide financial input related to rental fleet performance

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Several years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership experience
  • Strong financial reporting and accounting operations background
  • Proficiency in accounting systems and advanced Excel skills
  • Experience in construction, equipment, or asset-heavy industries preferred

  • Manages annual corporate income and franchise tax returns, gross receipts and sales tax returns
  • Responsible for the review and preparation of accruals including job related costs, general and administrative expenses
  • Coordinates the record keeping of all job costs and intercompany transactions
  • Maintains controls over all postings and transactions in the general ledger and all subsidiary ledgers, including journal entries, correcting transactions, reconciling monthly WIP
  • Create and post monthly journal entries
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations
