A growing Construction organization is seeking a Controller to oversee accounting operations and provide financial insight across the business. This position will manage day-to-day accounting activities while supporting project profitability, reporting accuracy, cash flow management, and operational decision-making. This is a great opportunity for an experienced construction accounting professional who enjoys owning the numbers, improving processes, and working closely with both finance and operations teams.
Job Responsibility
Oversee all accounting functions including general ledger, AP, AR, payroll, and reconciliations
Lead monthly close activities and prepare financial statements and management reporting
Manage construction accounting processes including WIP schedules, job costing, and percentage-of-completion reporting
Review project financials, cost-to-complete reports, and profitability trends
Monitor cash flow, collections, billing, and working capital
Support contract billing, change orders, retainage, and project-related financial requirements
Partner with operations and project teams to improve financial visibility and support decision-making
Develop and maintain accounting procedures, controls, and reporting processes
Supervise and mentor accounting staff while promoting accuracy and efficiency
Requirements
5+ years of progressive accounting experience
Prior Controller or senior accounting leadership experience within Construction industry
Strong background with job costing, WIP reporting, and percentage-of-completion accounting
Experience overseeing full-cycle accounting for a contractor or subcontractor environment
Ability to analyze financial data and communicate insights to non-financial partners
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
