Job Description

A growing Construction organization is seeking a Controller to oversee accounting operations and provide financial insight across the business. This position will manage day-to-day accounting activities while supporting project profitability, reporting accuracy, cash flow management, and operational decision-making. This is a great opportunity for an experienced construction accounting professional who enjoys owning the numbers, improving processes, and working closely with both finance and operations teams.

Job Responsibility

  • Oversee all accounting functions including general ledger, AP, AR, payroll, and reconciliations
  • Lead monthly close activities and prepare financial statements and management reporting
  • Manage construction accounting processes including WIP schedules, job costing, and percentage-of-completion reporting
  • Review project financials, cost-to-complete reports, and profitability trends
  • Monitor cash flow, collections, billing, and working capital
  • Support contract billing, change orders, retainage, and project-related financial requirements
  • Partner with operations and project teams to improve financial visibility and support decision-making
  • Develop and maintain accounting procedures, controls, and reporting processes
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff while promoting accuracy and efficiency

Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Prior Controller or senior accounting leadership experience within Construction industry
  • Strong background with job costing, WIP reporting, and percentage-of-completion accounting
  • Experience overseeing full-cycle accounting for a contractor or subcontractor environment
  • Ability to analyze financial data and communicate insights to non-financial partners
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Proficiency with Excel and accounting systems
