Job Description

A well-established, high-volume consumer goods company is seeking a Controller with deep expertise in U.S. apparel manufacturing to lead core accounting operations and elevate financial visibility across the organization. This role will serve as a strategic partner to production, sourcing, and executive leadership while ensuring strong internal controls and protecting margins in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. This position requires a hands-on leader who thrives in high transaction environments, understands global production cycles, and can connect operational activity to accurate financial reporting.

Job Responsibility

  • Oversee full-cycle accounting operations, including AP, AR, GL, payroll, and financial reporting
  • Ensure the accurate capture and reconciliation of high-volume transactions within a cloud-based accounting environment
  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including accruals, reconciliations, consolidations, and audit readiness
  • Manage inventory and cost accounting, including raw materials, labor, overhead, WIP, and finished goods
  • Own relationships with lenders and financing partners, including factoring, A/R financing, and borrowing base reporting
  • Implement and maintain controls to validate production cost data against actual expenditures and vendor invoices
  • Monitor and manage cash flow timing gaps between overseas production payments and domestic receivables
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP standards across multi-state and international operations
  • Partner cross-functionally with production, sourcing, logistics, and leadership to improve reporting, processes, and decision-making visibility
  • Prepare and deliver audit, lender, and compliance documentation accurately and on time

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 5+ years within apparel or consumer goods manufacturing
  • Strong knowledge of inventory accounting, production workflows, and in-transit inventory
  • Proven experience in high-volume transaction environments
  • Proficiency with cloud-based accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks Online) and integrations with warehouse or 3PL systems
  • Hands-on experience with factoring, A/R financing, and lender reporting
  • Advanced Excel capabilities (e.g., Pivot Tables, lookups, data transformation tools)
  • Experience leading audit processes and working with external auditors
  • Prior leadership experience managing accounting teams in fast-paced environments
  • Must be able to work onsite in the South Bay
