We are currently seeking an experienced Control Systems Engineer to join the team at our Centurion underground mine, located 160 kilometres west of Mackay. This role is integral to developing and maintaining the mine’s plant control systems (PCS) and automation infrastructure, ensuring operational efficiency and reliability as the site moves through the establishment phase. Reporting to the Manager Engineering and Maintenance, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automation and control systems, implementing PCS standards, and driving change management processes. This is a hands-on role with a project development focus, requiring strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to fault finding and system improvements.
Job Responsibility:
Develop and implement standards for plant control systems (PCS) and automation processes
Manage and maintain PCS, including SCADA and PLC programming, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement
Supervise contractors and site personnel involved in control systems and automation projects
Install, program, and maintain Rockwell Automation (Allen-Bradley, Plant SCADA, Citect SCADA, and PLC systems)
Troubleshoot and rectify faults within data networks including Ethernet, ControlNet, and Modbus communication systems
Collaborate with Electrical Engineering Manager, Mine Manager, CHPP Superintendent, and General Manager to achieve operational targets
Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and safety regulations
Requirements:
Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Electrical Trade background with strong PLC programming experience
Experience in Rockwell Automation software, including Allen-Bradley PLCs and Plant SCADA
Strong capability in SCADA system development, maintenance, and troubleshooting
Hands-on experience with automation and control system projects in heavy industrial environments
Exposure to underground coal mining is highly desirable, but applicants from heavy industry or industrial automation backgrounds are encouraged to apply

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage with cross-functional teams
