Job Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Control Room Specialist to join a fast-paced, highly automated warehouse environment. This is a critical position providing core shift cover within a Central Logistics Centre, acting as the operational link between warehouse systems and physical distribution. You will play a key role in ensuring maximum system uptime, optimising throughput, and supporting operational teams within a highly regulated environment.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide shift cover for warehouse control and management systems, ensuring continuous operation
  • Monitor system performance, availability and throughput, taking swift action where required
  • Identify and resolve system issues, carrying out root cause analysis where necessary
  • Proactively identify bottlenecks and implement solutions to maximise efficiency
  • Act as the on-shift point of contact for team leaders and managers
  • Support operational decision-making through system insight and performance data
  • Manage and prioritise workload flow to maintain service levels
  • Assist with planning activities, including weekly pick strategies and system configuration
  • Work closely with IT and engineering teams to escalate and resolve issues
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across warehouse systems and processes
  • Provide KPI data and analysis to support leadership teams
  • Ensure all activities comply with health & safety standards and company policies
  • Adhere to regulatory and quality standards within a controlled distribution environment
  • Promote a strong safety culture and continuous improvement mindset

Requirements:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve technical or operational issues
  • Experience working in a fast-paced or high-volume environment
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Confident communicator, able to work across multiple teams
  • IT literate, including Microsoft Office 365
  • Flexible approach to working hours, including shifts

Nice to have:

  • Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) or automated systems
  • Knowledge of logistics, distribution or warehouse operations
  • Experience analysing performance data and KPIs
  • Understanding of regulated environments (e.g. pharmaceutical or similar)

  • Ensure team are reviewing the balance of the days inputs and outputs to make decisions on what actions are required to ensure maximum fulfilment of stock receipts
  • To ensure the system delivers optimum throughput and system availability. Identifying when performance is starting to deviate from target / acceptable levels and ensure correct teams take appropriate actions to remedy.
  • To ensure team is co-ordinating with relevant areas to drive engineering and system expertise to rectify issues at the earliest opportunity
  • Analysis of issues post-resolution to accurately conclude the root cause and develop a clear action plan for resolution.
  • To ensure that all pick planning and re-profiling activity and associated pick resource estimates for the relevant areas within those warehouse areas
  • To support decision making to adjust the outbound flow including tactical workload reduction (scratching, rolling picks) to ensure that all vehicles are loaded to meet the trunking delivery schedule
