Contributing faculty members serve in a part-time capacity to educate Walden University Students by effectively and proficiently using online technology and resources so that knowledge, information, feedback, and critique are imparted to and shared with students in thoughtful, carefully formulated, well written, and timely communications. This is accomplished in an environment that is respectful of student, the Faculty Member, Walden University, and the discipline in which the Faculty Member is involved.
Job Responsibility:
Serve in a part-time capacity to educate Walden University Students by effectively and proficiently using online technology and resources
Impart knowledge, information, feedback, and critique to students in thoughtful, carefully formulated, well written, and timely communications
Adhere to all Walden University Faculty expectations
Teach primarily Blended Academic Year in Residence (BAYR) courses using the Blackboard platform
Interact with students within the Blackboard platform
Engage with students in asynchronous Discussion Boards
Grade assignments
Answer student questions
Deliver 2 synchronous sessions during the quarter
Complete postings in a timely manner
Respond to student questions within 48 hours
Teach BAYR courses, which require asynchronous, synchronous, and in-person instruction
Provide in person instruction for approximately 4-5 hours per day during a 7-day in-person component in Minneapolis, MN
Be reasonably accessible to students outside the course
Publish availability to students through course syllabi, instructor information in the classroom, and/or other appropriate documents
Have the opportunity to teach at university, doctoral Residencies held domestically or internationally
Participate in doctoral dissertation committees
Requirements:
Must possess a Doctoral level Psychologist license
Earned doctorate in the field of study or closely related field
Candidates should possess a significant record of intellectual and professional contributions to the field of Psychology, including experience in the practice of Professional Psychology (Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology or School Psychology)
Three to five years of teaching experience at the degree level of the program is preferred
Two years or more of online or technology-enabled instruction experience preferred
Two years or more of student research mentoring is preferred
Expertise in psychodynamic, behavioral, gestalt, and humanistic psychotherapy, and learning and achievement testing highly preferred
Experience administering, scoring, interpreting psychological assessments, preferably cognitive, learning, achievement, and objective and projective personality assessments is preferred
Experience with a variety of psychotherapeutic interventions preferred
Commitment to advocating for the learning and development needs of adult students earning their degrees in a distance learning environment
Teaching, advising and mentoring
commitment to the promotion of applied research and the recruitment and development of a diverse faculty
excellent leadership, communication, team, and human relations skills
Experience with distance learning preferred
Willingness to travel to provide face-to-face instruction is preferred
Faculty Members must be appropriately credentialed and possess a Doctoral level Psychologist license
Faculty Members must maintain their licenses and any appropriate certifications
Faculty members are required to have an adequate computer to handle an electronic learning platform, keyboard, and computer monitor
The Faculty Member must be able to use Microsoft Office products (Word/Excel/PowerPoint), online meeting software such as Teams and Zoom, zip software, and Adobe Acrobat and must have reliable Internet access as well as alternate access in cases where primary access becomes unavailable
Nice to have:
