Job Description:

The role involves advising on contractual strategies, ensuring alignment with company policies, negotiating contracts, supporting dispute resolution, providing compliance training, and fostering cooperation across company divisions.

Job Responsibility:

  • Advise on contractual strategies, identifying commercial and legal risks, ensuring alignment with the company’s risk appetite
  • Negotiate contract terms, review and draft/propose changes to protect the company’s interests
  • Facilitate risk assessments and develop new contract strategies in line with company policies, ensuring that the information and data are protected
  • Ensure sufficient contingencies for accepted risks and collaborate on risk mitigation plans
  • Support dispute resolution processes with clients, subcontractors, or suppliers
  • Provide advisory and commercial guidance on contract adherence working closely with procurement, and claims management
  • Conduct compliance training to guide the project team and protect entitlements
  • Monitor commercial performance, ensure contractual compliance, and enforce change management protocols
  • Protect information per confidentiality agreements and assess contract compliance during project closeout
  • Promote quality and innovation in commercial practices
  • Build strong relationships with internal teams and clients, fostering cooperation across company divisions.

Requirements:

  • Recognised degree in Law
  • Postgraduate qualifications within engineering or construction law is an added advantage
  • Minimum of 10 years experience preferably in engineering and construction sectors and at least 5 years of leadership exposure in legal or commercial/contracts division
  • Contractual risk management exposure and ability to analyse legal and contractual issues, providing solutions through problem-solving techniques
  • Ability to work independently, demonstrating commercial acumen, negotiation on contractual T&Cs and possess relationship-building skills.

Nice to have:

Postgraduate qualifications within engineering or construction law.
