As a Supervisor at FCC Environment, you will play a key role in the planning, control and supervision of staff and resources to ensure effective street cleansing operations and/or the collection of refuse and recycling throughout the district. You will lead operational teams, maintain high standards of service delivery, and ensure all safety, legislative and contractual requirements are consistently met.
Job Responsibility:
Planning and organising daily tasks, crew deployment, and vehicle allocation to meet contractual requirements
Preparing and recording resource schedules to ensure labour, vehicles, plant, and materials are available
Setting output targets for crews and monitoring performance against targets
Ensuring accurate completion of all documentation (defect reports, schedules, timesheets, driver’s hours, additional work instructions)
Ensuring vehicle torque checks, cleaning schedules and weekly procedures are followed
Conducting Health & Safety and reversing assistant monitoring, ensuring each crew is seen at least once per week
Maintaining all records and systems for contract operation
Managing employee attendance, grievances, misconduct and discipline
Conducting return to work interviews and escalating issues where required
Supporting the wider supervisory team to maintain consistent standards
Providing high-quality contractor/client liaison
Ensuring compliance with ISO systems and company procedures
Requirements:
A confident, calm and assertive leader with proven experience in supervising operational teams
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
The ability to plan workloads, schedules, holidays and daily resources effectively
Highly organised with strong attention to detail
Able to work on their own initiative and adapt to changing situations
Strong knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and safe working procedures
A full UK driving licence (LGV Class 2 desirable)
Experience working on the highway or in a similar operational environment
IT competent and able to manage documentation and systems
Motivation, reliability, good timekeeping and customer focus
The ability to train, mentor and lead others
Experience in unionised work environments (desirable)
A commitment to personal development and improving operational standards
Nice to have:
LGV Class 2 driving licence
