Job Description:

We are currently partnering with a major utility organisation to source a dedicated Contract Officer position based in Brisbane. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the efficient and diligent administration of multiple high-volume (50-100 active individual projects) contracts that underpin a substantial infrastructure design and delivery program. Please note: This is strictly a Contract Administration and Management position, not a Procurement role. The successful candidate will be heavily focused on managing embedded contracts and processing monthly Payment Claims.

Job Responsibility:

  • Administer high-value contracts (up to $70m per annum) and provide expert advice on contract management to program managers and senior stakeholders
  • Undertake initial reviews of monthly payment claims, submit accruals to work order level detail, and provide detailed supporting documentation
  • Setup appropriate cost tracking structures to monitor contract and project expenditure
  • Assess supplier Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and manage performance gaps or unjustified claims
  • Undertake detailed reviews of proposed variations against contractual entitlements and financial approvals, negotiating with suppliers where necessary
  • Build constructive relationships with contractor commercial teams to enable the rapid provision of service and resolution of issues

Requirements:

  • Proven Contract Administration/Management experience
  • Excellent Excel skills for data collection, analysis, costing, and budgeting
  • Experience in managing complex, major infrastructure design and delivery contracts
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to assess pain/gain claims and negotiate supplier variations
  • Proven commercial experience in a senior role utilizing Total Cost Estimate (TCE), Early Contractor Involvement (ECI), or similar collaborative contract models
  • Understanding of asset-based work breakdown structures and their application to project planning, forecasting, and cost control
