Job Description

We are partnering with a large, multi-state organization in the building materials and distribution space that is seeking a Contract HR Compliance Analyst/Manager to support a major integration following a recent acquisition. This is a high-priority, project-based role focused on HR compliance, audit work, policy harmonization, and integration support.The company has a workforce of roughly 8,000 employees across the U.S. and Canada and is in the midst of integrating a newly acquired organization of approximately 5,000 employees. This contractor will play a key role in helping the HR Compliance team manage critical workstreams during the integration, while also providing coverage during a period of team transition and leave coverage. This role will report to the Director of HR Compliance and Policy and will focus heavily on policy harmonization, I-9 audit work, background check review, vendor assessment, state law compliance, regulatory reporting, and broader integration-related compliance support. The organization uses UKG.

Job Responsibility

  • Support HR compliance efforts tied to a large-scale acquisition and integration
  • Conduct and support I-9 audits, including review of documentation, compliance gaps, and remediation needs
  • Review and assess background check processes, vendor requirements, and applicable state-specific regulations
  • Lead or support policy audits and policy harmonization across acquired and existing entities
  • Review HR policies, procedures, and controls to identify compliance risks and gaps
  • Assist in evaluating regulatory exposure, prior compliance issues, and areas requiring remediation
  • Support integration audit activities and help align employee relations processes across organizations
  • Partner with leadership on compliance documentation, reporting, and post-close remediation planning
  • Help assess vendor relationships and ensure compliance processes are aligned with internal standards
  • Contribute to broader HR compliance projects as assigned

Requirements

  • Strong experience in HR compliance, ideally in a complex, multi-state environment
  • Experience with policy review, audit work, regulatory compliance, and process documentation
  • Familiarity with I-9 compliance, background check requirements, and state employment law considerations
  • Ability to identify risk, organize findings, and support practical remediation efforts
  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment with shifting priorities
  • Experience supporting M&A integration or acquisition-related HR compliance work
  • Experience with UKG is a plus but not required
