The Contract Engineer is responsible for the preparation, negotiation, award, and administration of contracts during the Pre-Project and FEED phases of Project. The role ensures full compliance with corporate governance, contractual risk mitigation, and alignment with project execution strategy. The position may extend to EPC contract support during execution phase.
Job Responsibility:
Manage FEED Call for Tender (CFT) process
Prepare and issue Invitation to Tender documentation
Coordinate technical and commercial clarifications
Organize clarification meetings with bidders
Lead commercial negotiations
Prepare Recommendation to Award (RTA) documentation
Administer FEED contracts post-award
Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and corporate procedures
Monitor deliverables, milestones, and contractual correspondence
Maintain contract documentation and audit trail
Contribute to EPC contracting strategy
Support preparation of execution-phase contracts
Assist in risk allocation and commercial structuring
Prepare and manage Variation Orders
Maintain Variation Register
Support claims analysis and dispute resolution
Advise on contractual risk exposure
Support Project Control Manager in placement of small contracts
Coordinate with cost control for budget and commitment tracking
Provide contractual advice to Project Manager and Engineering Manager
Ensure all tender and contract activities comply with corporate rules and procedures
Prepare and maintain contract-related procedures
Ensure traceability and regulatory compliance
Requirements:
Engineering, Business, or Law degree
Minimum 15 years of professional experience
At least 10 years in CFT management and contract administration within the energy sector
Proven experience in FEED and EPC project environments
Strong negotiation and commercial risk management skills
Fluent in English
Advanced knowledge of EPC contract structures
Experience in variation and claims management
Proficiency in MS Office tools
Experience with ARIBA or equivalent e-tendering platforms
