Our client, a well-established law firm handling insurance defense matters involving auto and trucking claims, is seeking a Contract Civil Litigation Attorney to support its growing caseload. This is an ongoing contract role with flexibility in scheduling, open to attorneys who can commit anywhere from 20 to 40 hours per week, depending on availability. The firm is open to attorneys from a general civil litigation background, with insurance defense experience considered a strong plus. This role is strictly focused on law-and-motion and litigation support work and does not involve serving as attorney of record.
Job Responsibility:
Draft and revise pleadings, motions, and supporting memoranda
Conduct legal research and analysis related to civil litigation matters
Prepare written discovery responses and assist with discovery strategy
Draft dispositive and non-dispositive motions, oppositions, and replies
Review case materials and provide litigation support to attorneys of record
Assist with legal analysis and strategy development on insurance defense cases, including auto and trucking matters
Collaborate with the internal legal team to meet deadlines and case needs
Requirements:
Active California Bar admission in good standing
Background in civil litigation in California
Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
Experience drafting motions and handling substantive law-and-motion work
Ability to work independently while coordinating with attorneys of record
Comfortable supporting litigation matters without appearing in court or acting as attorney of record
Availability to work 20–40 hours per week, with flexibility based on workload
