Job Description

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Contract Bookkeeper to support day-to-day accounting operations. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling bank accounts, and assisting with month-end reporting. The ideal candidate has strong bookkeeping experience, excellent organizational skills, and proficiency with accounting software.

Job Responsibility

  • Maintain accurate financial records and general ledger entries
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
  • Reconcile bank, credit card, and other balance sheet accounts
  • Record daily financial transactions and ensure proper documentation
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close activities
  • Prepare financial reports, including income statements and balance sheets
  • Monitor cash flow and track expenses
  • Support payroll processing and related recordkeeping, if needed
  • Resolve discrepancies and investigate unusual transactions
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting procedures

Requirements

  • 2+ years of bookkeeping or general accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of debits, credits, and account reconciliations
  • Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, or similar systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Associate degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred

Nice to have

  • Experience in small to mid-sized business environments
  • Familiarity with month-end close and financial reporting
  • Payroll support experience is a plus
  • Ability to work independently in a contract or interim role
