Requirements

Current Nurse and Midwifery Council (NMC) registration as a Registered Nurse/Registered Midwife
Willingness to undertake the courses in Contraception and Sexual Health (CASH)

Job Responsibility

Provide care to patients requiring testing, treatment and prevention of sexually transmitted infections and/or requiring contraception
Work as part of the Contraception and Sexual Health team

Post-registration experience within sexual health or a related field (e.g. gynaecology, practice nursing)

Job Responsibility

Delivering nurse-led sexual health clinics, including taking comprehensive sexual histories
Undertaking genital examinations and diagnostic testing for sexually transmitted infections
Performing microscopy, making diagnoses and initiating treatment
Assessing contraceptive needs and providing a full range of contraception, including LARC methods
Fitting and removing contraceptive implants (or working towards competency)
Providing pregnancy testing, counselling and onward referrals where appropriate
Delivering health promotion, education and advice on sexual health and contraception
Maintaining accurate, confidential clinical records
Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure high standards of care
Supporting safeguarding processes and managing sensitive situations with professionalism and empathy
