Job Description

Are you a process-driven professional with a passion for operational excellence? We are seeking a Continuous Improvement Specialist to join our team in Don Mills. This is a permanent, high-impact role reporting directly to the Production Director. You will serve as a key driver for efficiency on the production floor, specifically focusing on the optimization of packaging and filler lines. By working directly with operators and supervisors, you will analyze workflows, identify root causes of waste, and implement sustainable solutions to improve our manufacturing output.

Job Responsibility

  • On-Floor Troubleshooting: Spend the majority of your time on the floor working with operators and supervisors to identify mechanical and process bottlenecks
  • Waste Mitigation: Collect and analyze data regarding milk rework and dump occurrences to identify patterns and trends
  • Root Cause Analysis: Use tools such as Pareto charts and 5-Whys to diagnose issues and develop corrective/preventive actions
  • Standardization: Document current workflows and assist in creating standardized procedures and visual controls to maintain gains
  • Reporting & Tracking: Create and maintain dashboards to monitor KPIs and report progress on CI initiatives to the Production Director
  • Cross-Functional Support: Facilitate meetings between production, quality, and maintenance to validate and implement technical solutions

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Food Science, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field
  • Strong familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other Continuous Improvement methodologies
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and data visualization tools
  • ability to turn raw data into actionable insights
  • Proven ability to identify root causes and propose sustainable, cost-effective solutions
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build rapport with floor staff and management alike
