The Consumer Officer will be an integral part of the Rare Diseases group at the Menzies Institute for Medical Research. They will assist in bridging the gap between people and families living with rare diseases in Tasmania and the clinical researchers who are determined to reduce the barriers to optimal healthcare for rare diseases throughout our rural and regional centres. The Consumer Officer will develop and coordinate a consumer advisory group and will be the voice for consumers as we develop new research programs, including co-designed initiatives.
Job Responsibility:
Assisting in the development and coordination of the rare disease’s consumer advisory group
Participating in co-design research initiatives as a consumer voice
Liaising with key stakeholders to ensure program outcomes are meeting their requirements
Requirements:
Lived experience of a diagnosed or undiagnosed rare disease/s (either personally affected or as a carer or family member)
Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and experience to effectively engage and lead consumers and/or consumer groups to gather, synthesise, and advocate for a united consumer voice to directly inform health system improvements
Experience with tertiary academia and/or research, project management, or other similar positions
