They are seeking an experienced Consumer Insights Director to lead a high profile, strategic programme within their Global Product Innovation team. This role will shape how the organisation engages customers, understands evolving market needs, and converts insight into clear direction for product strategy and long-term innovation. This is a director level role requiring strong leadership, deep research capability and the ability to influence senior stakeholders across regions and functions.

  • Set the direction for customer research across a wide range of qualitative and quantitative methods, overseeing both approach and execution
  • Lead customer and market engagement programmes to gather deep, unbiased understanding of customer needs, behaviours and unmet demand
  • Develop and apply customer and market segmentation frameworks to inform innovation, prioritisation and commercial decision making
  • Identify and analyse market and customer trends, with a strong focus on long-term customer needs and future opportunities
  • Apply user-centred design principles to ensure customer insight directly shapes product and experience development
  • Translate complex insight into clear, actionable strategies and recommendations for senior leaders and cross-functional teams
  • Act as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert on customer experience and insight at executive level
  • Influence and collaborate effectively across product, commercial, innovation, marketing and regional teams
  • Ensure insight is embedded into decision making, not treated as a standalone activity
  • Lead engagement across multiple markets, including German-speaking customers, using appropriate methods, partners or approaches where required

Requirements

  • Extensive experience leading customer experience, customer insight or market research functions at director level within large, complex global organisations
  • Strong expertise in customer research across a wide range of methodologies, with credibility in both strategic design and practical delivery
  • Proven experience in customer and market segmentation, and in using segmentation to drive real business decisions
  • Deep understanding of customer engagement and user-centred design in a commercial or product-led environment
  • Highly analytical, with the ability to identify market trends and translate insight into actionable strategies and plans
  • Commercially minded, with a clear bias for action and outcomes
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, able to listen, challenge and shape direction in senior, cross-functional settings
  • Confident communicator, able to present clearly and persuasively to executive audiences
  • Resilient and comfortable operating in ambiguous, fast moving environments where views may be challenged
  • Candidates must demonstrate a credible approach to engaging German-speaking customers

  • German language skills are not required, but candidates must demonstrate a credible approach to engaging German-speaking customers
  • Experience or knowledge of German FMCG or retail markets is a strong advantage
