Job Description:

Join Our Team as an Attorney at Axiom. We are seeking a Consumer Banking Counsel to join our Financial Services team. In this role, you will provide legal advice and regulatory support to clients on a broad range of consumer banking and consumer finance matters, including credit card programs, deposit products, and consumer lending.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide legal guidance on consumer banking and consumer finance matters, including credit card and deposit products
  • Advise clients on consumer credit card regulatory and compliance issues, including program governance and operational risk
  • Manage consumer product disputes and complaint resolution, including issues related to billing disputes and cardholder protections
  • Provide counsel on Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) matters, including reporting obligations, disputes, and compliance requirements
  • Support clients in collections practices and regulatory compliance related to consumer lending and credit products
  • Advise on vendor oversight and third-party risk management related to consumer banking programs and servicing providers
  • Collaborate with internal legal, compliance, operations, and product teams on consumer credit programs and regulatory frameworks
  • Assist with compliance for automotive consumer finance and retail installment credit programs where applicable
  • Monitor regulatory developments impacting consumer financial services, and provide proactive legal guidance to mitigate risk

Requirements:

  • 6+ years of experience in consumer banking, consumer finance, or financial services regulatory matters
  • Strong experience with consumer credit card products and related regulatory frameworks
  • Experience handling consumer disputes, complaint resolution, and credit reporting issues, including FCRA compliance
  • Knowledge of collections practices and regulatory compliance for consumer credit products
  • Experience advising on vendor oversight and third-party risk management in financial services environments
  • Familiarity with consumer deposit products and related regulatory considerations
  • Juris Doctor (JD) and licensed to practice law in New York
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills

Nice to have:

  • Experience with automotive consumer finance or retail installment credit programs
  • Background supporting credit card issuers, banks, fintechs, or consumer lending platforms
  • Familiarity with broader consumer financial services regulatory frameworks and regulatory compliance programs
  • Ability to work onsite with clients in New York City as needed
