Job Description:

Services is a key differentiator for Mastercard, providing cutting-edge services that help our customers grow. Focused on thinking big and scaling fast around the globe, this agile team is responsible for end-to-end solutions for a diverse global customer base. Centered on data-driven technologies and innovation, these services include consulting, loyalty and marketing programs, business experimentation, and data-driven information and risk management services. Within Southeast Europe, our Services Business Development team plays a pivotal role in expanding Mastercard’s footprint both within and beyond Financial Institutions, partnering with clients across multiple industries to drive growth and transformation. We are now looking for a Business Development Director to strengthen our presence primarily across Serbia, Bosnia, and Montenegro, with a view of extending to rest of Southeast Europe. Potential candidate should have a strong focus on new client acquisition within the non-FI space, as well as focusing on new buying centers within FIs. This role is ideal for a commercially minded professional with a consulting background who thrives in building opportunities from the ground up and engaging senior decision‑makers as a trusted advisor.

Job Responsibility:

  • Shape and execute the growth strategy for Mastercard Services across Southeast Europe, with primary responsibility for Serbia, Bosnia, and Montenegro, with a secondary role across Southeast Europe
  • Drive new business acquisition by proactively identifying, developing, and closing opportunities with new clients across multiple industries in non‑FI segments, as well as identifying and capturing new business within the FI industry
  • Lead senior‑level client discussions, positioning Mastercard Services as a strategic partner through a consultative, insight‑led sales approach
  • Identify both stated and unstated client needs, structuring complex and often ambiguous problems into clear commercial opportunities
  • Develop well‑crafted, data‑driven proposals and pitches, leveraging Mastercard’s global Services portfolio and subject‑matter expertise
  • Own the end‑to‑end sales cycle, from early prospecting and relationship building through to deal closure and handover to delivery teams
  • Partner closely with internal specialists and regional teams to ensure solutions are feasible, differentiated, and aligned with client priorities
  • Contribute to high‑quality project delivery where needed, identifying risks early and helping ensure strong client outcomes
  • Build market presence and credibility through client engagement, thought leadership, and collaboration across the Services organization

Requirements:

  • Background in strategy or management consulting, or a proven track record in business development or commercial roles with strong client exposure across different industries such as retail, FMCG, oil & gas, e-commerce etc.
  • Hands‑on experience working with data and analytics in client projects, beyond pure project management responsibilities
  • Ability to engage confidently with senior stakeholders, articulating complex ideas clearly and persuasively
  • Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to shape solutions, assess value, and drive deals forward
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively in English and in Serbian both verbally and in writing
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, with high levels of ownership, resilience, and drive in less mature or developing markets
  • Strong prioritization skills and ability to manage multiple opportunities in a fast‑paced, performance‑driven environment
  • MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification is an advantage
