Job Description:

Applications are invited for a Consultant Radiologist to join a friendly and cohesive team of radiologists with diverse expertise in a busy department and a strong record in teaching and training. The applicant would be expected to join the existing radiologists in providing a comprehensive diagnostic radiology. The post-holder will also support the running of service in our main department at St George's Hospital.

Job Responsibility:

  • Oversee and ensure the provision of high-quality clinical services within the Radiology Department
  • Provide a comprehensive diagnostic radiology service which includes general plain radiography, CT, ultrasound, and MRI
  • General diagnostic adult sessions in CT and plain film reporting
  • Leading uroradiology MDT's including experience of bladder, renal and prostate reporting and case management
  • Testicular and penile speciality reporting and MDT delivery
  • Participate in a full-time diagnostic on-call rota (approximately 1:15)
  • Regular weekend working (with time off in-lieu)
  • Teaching of undergraduates and radiology registrars in the department

Requirements:

  • Medical Degree
  • Full registration with GMC
  • CCT in radiology (or within 6 months at time of interview)
  • Reporting A&E, GP, inpatient and out- patient plain radiograph examinations
  • Ability to take full and independent clinical responsibility
  • Urology MDT experience
  • Able to evaluate own radiological practice
  • Independent in general ultrasound
  • Knowledge of legislation relating to radiology e.g. IR(ME)R 2000
  • Understand the principles of Clinical Governance
  • Ability to work with colleagues as part of a team
  • Effective communication skills
  • Commitment to CPD and teaching
  • Enthusiasm
  • An awareness of own strengths and weaknesses
  • Approachability

Nice to have:

  • Experience of teaching undergraduates, postgraduates and trainee specialists
  • Reporting of speciality urologist CT and MR
  • Experience in trauma imaging and reporting
  • Independent in urology speciality US, penile doppler and TRUS
  • Computer, PACS and VR software literate
  • Experience of urological contrast fluoroscopy speciality investigation
  • Active interest in research, audit, clinical governance and teaching
