Full GMC Registration
Entry on the GMC Specialist Register through CCT, CESR, or European Community Rights pathway
MRCP or equivalent qualification
CCST/CCT in General Medicine and Stroke Medicine (or within six months of award)

Job Responsibility

Provide comprehensive consultant-led care across hyper-acute, acute, rehabilitation, and community stroke pathways
Participate in the Consultant of the Week model, leading daily ward rounds within the Hyper Acute Stroke Unit (HASU) and Acute Stroke Unit
Deliver senior medical input into acute stroke assessment and thrombolysis services
Support rapid access TIA and stroke review clinics with access to same-day imaging services
Participate in the specialist stroke on-call rota, including remote hyper-acute stroke assessment and thrombolysis advice
Undertake responsibility for ongoing care of stroke rehabilitation and step-down patients
Provide clinical leadership and support to the wider multidisciplinary team
Supervise and train junior doctors, specialist nurses, and other healthcare professionals
Contribute to clinical governance, audit, quality improvement, and service development initiatives
Participate in teaching, education, and continuing professional development activities.

Job Responsibility

Deliver high-quality hyperacute, acute and rehabilitation stroke care
Lead daily ward rounds for patients admitted to the Hyperacute Stroke Unit and Acute Stroke Unit
Assess and manage patients presenting with suspected acute stroke
Attend thrombolysis calls and coordinate thrombectomy referrals where appropriate
Provide specialist review for stroke patients, including those requiring intensive care
Deliver comprehensive inpatient stroke management and secondary prevention
Run Rapid Access TIA clinics and Stroke follow-up outpatient clinics
Participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings and discharge planning
Work closely with rehabilitation, vascular, neuroradiology and cardiology teams to deliver integrated stroke care
